Corporate Social Responsibility Across Europe
By: Habisch, André (ed.); Wegner, Martina (ed.); Schmidpeter, René (ed.); Jonker, Jan (ed.)
Published by: Springer
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become an increasingly important topic in our global society. Corporate Social Responsibility Across Europe is the first volume of its kind to bring together twenty-three national perspectives on this issue. Thirty-seven European researchers worked on the book, which provides a comprehensive and structured survey of CSR developments and progress at national levels. An overview and analysis is provided for each country. Topics addressed include business and societal mindsets in the different cultural settings, national drivers for the current development of CSR, and prospects for the individual countries in the future. Furthermore it contains three comprehensive pan-European analyses. The chapters also contain practical information and references to the Internet as well as relevant literature in order to support further research and stimulate business activities in this field. The result is a rather unique collection of essays on the topic of CSR across Europe.

Corporate Social Responsibility and International Development
By: Hopkins, Michael
Published by: Earthscan
'Set to become a seminal work on the subject.' African Business The business of business is business. So why should corporations be involved in development? This groundbreaking new book makes the case that governments and their international agencies grouped under the umbrella of the United Nations have failed in their attempts to rid the planet of underdevelopment and poverty. If development is the objective then it seems that the solution and the responsibility lies with the private sector - particularly through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes of large corporations with their tremendous power and economic strength. Written by noted CSR practitioner Michael Hopkins this book is the first to explicitly link CSR with development. It spells out what corporations are doing on development what more they could do and how CSR can be a useful tool to promote economic development via corporations. This is important and challenging reading for all of those in government business and NGOs who think that there must be a better more effective and dynamic way to kick-start development and eradicate poverty.

Corporate Sustainability
By: Griffiths, Andrew (ed.)
Published by: eContent Management, Pty Ltd
This book adds value to two different, emerging fields, and these are identified in its title --- sustainability, and, innovation. The benefit to the first field is this volume's attention to a wide range of sustainability-related technologies of both the "soft" and "hard" varieties. From governance mechanisms and developing rules, on the one hand, to office equipment and energy systems, on the other, this book provides a multi-focal perspective on how sustainability and innovation are mutually influential. The benefit to the innovation field is that this work identifies new developments by examining two and sometimes all three aspects of sustainability --- environmental, social, and economic. And, the fact that all societal sectors (i.e. business, government, and nonprofit organizations), as well as individuals and communities in multiple geographic locations, are examined contributes to a more comprehensive view of both fields, as well as their integration

Corporate Truth
By: Henriques, Adrian
Published by: Earthscan
'Whether you are an accounting standard setter a corporate lawyer or an activist member of an NGO you will find ideas here which challenge previously held views and demand your consideration.' Roger Adams Executive Director - Technical Association of Chartered Certified Accountants 'This book will help business leaders understand the values and principles which underpin business integrity and why transparency needs to be taken to the heart of the decision-making process.' John Christensen Director Tax Justice Network International Secretariat 'This book is a timely exploration of what transparency entails the basis for expecting it of companies and the limits which may apply to adopting it ... a welcome contribution both to contemporary debate and to the practical challenges which must be addressed by the creators of wealth.' David Nussbaum CEO of Transparency International 'Transparency is a precondition of effective accountability and Corporate Truth provides a compelling account of the state of corporate transparency today.' Jonathon Porritt Founder-Director of Forum for the Future and Chair of the Sustainable Development Commission 'This important book examines the scope and limits of transparency intelligently confronting the challenges and problems it poses. Its basic argument - that transparency is required wherever power it exercised - is relevant not only to companies but to governments and as their influence grows to non-governmental organizations as well. It makes valuable reading for all.' Sir Geoffrey Chandler CBE founding Chair of Amnesty International Business Group and former Director of Shell International 'Corporate transparency is crucial because with all their power companies have a mind of their own. Henriques points out that the psychology of companies means that unless people within companies can be honest with themselves real transparency may be unattainable.' Oliver Jame

Cutting-edge Issues in Business Ethics
By: Werhane, Patricia H. (ed.); Painter-Morland, Molly (ed.)
Published by: Springer
This volume is one of the very few publications dedicated to the challenges that Continental philosophy poses to the field of Business Ethics. The authors want to draw attention to the work of Continental philosophers who have been relegated to the fringes of Business Ethics scholarship, and present some critical perspectives that have been ignored within Business Ethics practice. As such, this volume provides a critique of many of the assumptions that underpin traditional approaches to Business Ethics, and urges its readership to rethink moral agency and epistemology, as well as Business Ethics pedagogy.
